The Department of Pathology has been one of the core departments of the hospital and has been successfully rendering its services ever since it came into existence in 1947, with a view to provide wide range of laboratory investigations to the patient care. It consists of disciplines of Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Serology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, and Tumour marker assay.  The greatest emphasis has been given to accuracy, precision and reproducibility. Laboratory services are available 24 X 7.

Consultants of the Department also supervise teaching of nursing staff and help DNB students.

Laboratory services are also available at Base Hospital, Village Newada Samogar. Total 1214 patients had undergone 4251 tests.

The Department has Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre (ICTC) for HIV. All ANCs and surgical cases undergo HIV testing. ICTC also receive referrals from other hospitals, doctors. ICTC staff participates in various Camps organized for HIV awareness and testing by SACS officials at Allahabad.

Lab has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipments. Laboratory has a motivated and dedicated team of consultants, technicians & support staff. Certain special tests are being outsourced from various NABL and CAP accredited referral laboratories.

The laboratory is participating in EQAS programme being run by CMC, Vellore and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for biochemistry. During the year, 358352 tests were conducted, an increase by 24023 tests in comparison to previous year.
